LIGHTING SYSTEM Turn Signal Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

When the combination meter receives a signal from the windshield wiper switch, it turns the right and left turn signal lights on and off according to the operation of the headlight dimmer switch.

Note

When replacing the combination meter assembly, make sure to replace it with a new one.

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (TURN SIGNAL SWITCH)


    1. Using the GTS, read the Data List Click here.

      Combination Meter

      Turn Signal Switch (Right) Turn signal switch (right turn position) signal / ON or OFF

      ON: Turn signal switch in right turn position

      OFF: Turn signal switch not in right turn position

      ON: Turn signal switch in left turn position

      OFF: Turn signal switch not in left turn position

      The display is as specified in the normal condition column.

  2. INSPECT HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the headlight dimmer switch Click here.

    2. Inspect the headlight dimmer switch Click here.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the E14 headlight dimmer switch connector.

    2. Disconnect the E121 combination meter assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      for LHD
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E14-12 (TR) - E121-9 (ER) Always Below 1 Ω
      E14-11 (TL) - E121-10 (EL)
      E14-12 (TR) or E121-9 (ER) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E14-11 (TL) or E121-10 (EL) - Body ground
      for RHD
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E14-20 (TR) - E121-9 (ER) Always Below 1 Ω
      E14-19 (TL) - E121-10 (EL)
      E14-20 (TR) or E121-9 (ER) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E14-19 (TL) or E121-10 (EL) - Body ground

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH - BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the E14 headlight dimmer switch connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E14-15 (EL) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      for RHD
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E14-16 (EL) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
