BRAKE GENERAL MAINTENANCE

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT BRAKE PEDAL


    1. Check the brake pedal.

  2. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE


    1. Check the parking brake cables to ensure that they are not deformed or binding.

    2. Check the electric parking brake actuator assembly Click here.

  3. INSPECT BRAKE SHOE LININGS AND DRUMS, PADS AND DISCS


    1. Check the brake pads and discs.


      1. Inspect the front brake pads and discs Click here.

      2. Inspect the rear brake pads and discs Click here.

    2. Check the parking brake shoe linings and drums.


      1. Inspect the parking brake shoe linings and drums Click here.

      2. Check the parking brake shoe clearance Click here.

  4. INSPECT BRAKE FLUID

  5. REPLACE BRAKE FLUID


    1. Replace the brake fluid Click here.

  6. INSPECT BRAKE LINES AND HOSES

    Work in a well-lighted area.

      Using a mirror, check the entire circumference and length of the brake lines and hoses for:


      • Damage

      • Wear

      • Deformation

      • Cracks

      • Corrosion

      • Leaks

      • Bends

      • Twists

    2. Check all the clamps for tightness and the connections for leakage.

    3. Check that the hoses and lines are not near sharp edges, moving parts or the exhaust system.

    4. Check that the lines are installed properly and pass through the center of the grommets.
