LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM Rain Sensor LIN Communication Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The LIN communication of the components related to the rain sensor occurs between the rain sensor and windshield wiper switch assembly.

Note


  • When using the GTS with the power switch off to troubleshoot:

    Connect the GTS to the vehicle, and turn a courtesy switch on and off at 1.5 seconds intervals until communication between the GTS and vehicle begins.

  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY- RAIN SENOR)


    1. Disconnect the N35 windshield wiper switch assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the Y5 rain sensor connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N35-8 (MPX1) - Y5-1 (MPX) Always Below 1 Ω
      N35-8 (MPX1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect the windshield wiper switch assembly connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N35-7 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N35-2 (+B) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  3. CHECK WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Temporarily replace the windshield wiper switch assembly with a new or normally functioning one Click here.

    2. Check AUTO wiper function is operate normally.
