STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the steering column hole cover with the 2 nuts and 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      5.0 N*m  { 51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf }

  2. INSTALL STEERING SLIDING WITH SHAFT YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Temporarily install the steering sliding with shaft yoke to the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.

  3. INSTALL NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY


    1. Align the matchmarks and install the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft to the steering column assembly.

    2. Install the bolt.

      Torque:
      35 N*m  { 360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf }

  4. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (TILT STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY WITH MOTOR)


    1. Install the steering column assembly with the 4 nuts.

      Torque:
      26 N*m  { 260 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf }

    2. Install the brake pedal return spring.

    3. Connect the connectors.

  5. INSTALL STEERING ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (w/ VGRS)

  6. INSTALL MAIN SHAFT LOWER DUST COVER (w/ VGRS)

  7. CONNECT STEERING SLIDING WITH SHAFT YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ VGRS)

  8. CONNECT STEERING SLIDING WITH SHAFT YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o VGRS)


    1. Align the matchmark on the steering sliding with shaft yoke with the matchmark on the power steering link and install the bolt.

      Torque:
      35 N*m  { 360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf }

    2. Tighten the bolt of the steering sliding with shaft yoke closest to the vehicle interior.

      Torque:
      35 N*m  { 360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf }

    3. Attach the clamp to the No. 1 steering column hole cover.

  9. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY

  10. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT LOWER PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

  11. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Attach the 3 claws to install the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable.

    2. Connect the connectors.

  12. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER


    1. Attach the 2 claws to install the steering column upper cover.

    2. Attach the 4 clips.

    3. Attach the 2 claws to install the steering column lower cover.

      Note

      Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch.

    4. Install the 3 screws.

  13. ADJUST SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  14. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

  15. CHECK FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  16. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

    • Reset the auto tilt away function setting to the previous condition by changing the customize parameter Click here.

    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here f).

  17. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT

  18. PERFORM VARIABLE GEAR RATIO STEERING SYSTEM CALIBRATION (w/ VGRS)
