DESCRIPTION
The power steering system generates assist torque to assist steering effort through the operation of the motor installed to the power steering link assembly.
The direction and amount of power assist are determined by signals from the torque sensor and controlled in accordance with vehicle speed. As a result, steering effort is controlled so that it is light during low speed driving and moderately high during high speed driving.
FUNCTIONS OF COMPONENTS
| Component | Function | |
|---|---|---|
| Steering sensor | Detects the steering angle and the direction the steering wheel is turned. | |
| Speed sensor | Detects wheel speeds. | |
| Power steering link assembly | Torque sensor | By detecting the twist of the steering torsion bar, the sensor determines the torque that is applied to the torsion bar using an electrical signal to detect the steering torque, and sends this value to the power steering ECU assembly. |
| Motor rotation angle sensor | Detects the motor rotation angle of the power steering motor and transmits it to the power steering ECU assembly. | |
| Power steering motor | Generates power assist in accordance with the actuation current received from the power steering ECU assembly. | |
| Reduction assembly | Reduces the gear ratio and transmits motor torque to the rack shaft. | |
| Power steering ECU assembly |
|
|
| Air conditioning amplifier assembly | Receives a load control request signal from the power steering ECU assembly and limits operation of heater systems. | |
| Skid control ECU assembly | Sends the vehicle speed signal and steering torque assist cooperative control signal to the power steering ECU assembly. | |
| Absorber control ECU (w/ adaptive variable suspension system) | Sends the sport mode switch signal to the power steering ECU assembly. | |
| Driving support ECU assembly (w/ lane-keeping assist system) | Sends the target steering torque signal to the power steering ECU assembly. | |
| Power management control ECU |
|
|
| Combination meter assembly |
