REAR BUMPER REMOVAL

Tech Tips

If the bumper is damaged, there is a possibility that the installation area of the blind spot monitor sensor may be deformed and the blind spot monitor system may not operate correctly, so visually inspect the blind spot monitor sensor installation area (frame, stud bolt) to make sure it is not dentedor bent.

If the visual inspection finds a problem, check the installation condition of the blind spot monitor sensor, and adjust the installation position of the blind spot monitor sensor as necessary.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE REAR BUMPER NO. 1 PLATE

      *1 Protective Tape

      Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and remove the rear bumper No. 1 plate.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  2. REMOVE REAR BUMPER COVER

      Remove the 4 clips and 2 screws.

    2. A000Q4Z

      Remove the screw, and then remove the rear bumper seal bracket.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for both screws and rear bumper seal brackets.

    3. A000NDC

      Remove the 2 screws.

      *1 Protective Tape

      Put protective tape around the rear bumper cover.

    5. Detach the 20 claws and remove the rear bumper cover.

    6. w/ LEXUS Parking Assist-sensor System:


      1. Disconnect the connector of the No. 3 luggage room wire.

  3. REMOVE REAR BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER


    1. Remove the rear bumper energy absorber.

  4. REMOVE REAR BUMPER NO. 1 REINFORCEMENT


    1. Remove the 8 bolts and rear bumper No. 1 reinforcement.

  5. REMOVE REAR BUMPER NO. 1 SIDE SUPPORT LH


    1. A000RY3

      Remove the grommet.

    2. A000MWZ

      Remove the 2 screws and rear bumper No. 1 side support.

  6. REMOVE REAR BUMPER NO. 1 SIDE SUPPORT RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  7. REMOVE REAR BUMPER LOWER SIDE RETAINER RH

      Remove the clip.

    2. Detach the claw and remove the rear bumper lower side retainer.

  8. REMOVE REAR BUMPER NO. 2 SIDE SUPPORT LH

      Detach the 4 clips.

    2. A000P91

      Detach the 6 claws and remove the rear bumper No. 2 side support.

  9. REMOVE REAR BUMPER NO. 2 SIDE SUPPORT RH

      Detach the clamp of the wire harness.

    2. Detach the 2 clips and remove the rear bumper upper retainer.

    1. Detach the 2 clips and remove the rear bumper upper retainer.
