  4. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure) Click here.

  5. Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

  6. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on [C].

  7. Put the engine in inspection mode (maintenance mode) Click here.

  8. Start the engine, and wait 2 minutes [D].

  9. Warm up the engine until the engine coolant temperature is 75°C (167°F) or more [E].

  10. Idle the engine for 1 minute [F].

  11. Accelerate the vehicle to 80 km/h (50 mph) and stop the vehicle [G].

    CAUTION:

When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.

  12. Drive the vehicle at 56 to 80 km/h (35 to 50 mph) for 5 minutes or more [H].

    CAUTION:

When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.

  13. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

  14. Read the DTCs [I].

    Tech Tips

    • If a DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.

    • If a DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.

  15. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.

  16. Input the DTC: P0607, P0136, P0137, P0138, P0156, P0157 or P0158.

  17. Check the DTC judgment result.

    GTS Display Description
    NORMAL
    • DTC judgment completed

    • System normal

    ABNORMAL
    • DTC judgment completed

    • System abnormal

    INCOMPLETE
    • DTC judgment not completed

    • Perform driving pattern after confirming DTC enabling conditions

    N/A
    • Unable to perform DTC judgment

    • Number of DTCs which do not fulfill DTC preconditions has reached ECU's memory limit

    Tech Tips

    • If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.

    • If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.

    • If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE or N/A, perform steps [E] through [I] again.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the GTS. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0607)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    5. Read the DTCs.

      Result
      Result Proceed to
      DTC P0607 and P0136, P0137, P0138, P0156, P0157 or P0158 are output A
      DTC P0607 is output B

    B
    A
  2. INSPECT DTC (P0136, P0137, P0138, P0156, P0157 OR P0158)

    1. Inspect the P0136, P0137, P0138, P0156, P0157 or P0158 flowchart.

      Tech Tips

      • If P0136 or P0156 is output, troubleshoot for that DTC first Click here. Then proceed to "INSPECT ECM".

      • If P0137 or P0157 is output, troubleshoot for that DTC first Click here. Then proceed to "INSPECT ECM".

      • If P0138 or P0158 is output, troubleshoot for that DTC first Click here. Then proceed to "INSPECT ECM".

      • If DTC P0607 and P0136, P0137, P0138, P0156, P0157 or P0158 are output, the output voltage of the heated oxygen sensor may remain close to 0 V or become high (around 1 V or more).

  3. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Put the engine in inspection mode (maintenance mode) Click here.

    5. Allow the engine to idle and rev the engine.

    6. Check for exhaust gas leaks around the heated oxygen sensor.

If any exhaust gas leaks are present, repair it and proceed to "Perform Confirmation Driving Pattern". If no exhaust gas leaks are present, proceed to "Perform Confirmation Driving Pattern".

      Tech Tips

      • If no exhaust gas leaks are present, a malfunction in the heated oxygen sensor circuit is suspected.

      • If any exhaust gas leaks are present around the heated oxygen sensor, noise appears in the output voltage of the heated oxygen sensor.
