STOP LIGHT SWITCH ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the stop light switch connector.

      (to Stop Light Switch Assembly)

      Measure the resistance and voltage on the wire harness side connector according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A5-3 (GND)- Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A5-1 (B)- Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
      A5-5 (B)- Body ground Engine switch on (IG)

      If the result is not as specified, repair or replace the wire harness or connector.

    3. Reconnect the stop light switch connector.

      Component without harness connected

      Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A5-2 (L)- A5-3 (GND) Brake pedal not depressed 0 to 1.5 V
      Brake pedal depressed 7.5 to 14 V
      A5-4 (L)- A5-3 (GND) Engine switch on (IG) Brake pedal not depressed 7.5 to 14 V
      Engine switch on (IG) Brake pedal depressed 0 to 1.5 V

      If the result is not as specified, replace the stop light switch assembly.
