  1. VEHICLE PROXIMITY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK


    1. Check inspection buzzer


      1. With the shift lever in P, the vehicle speed at 0 km/h, and the brake pedal released, turn the engine switch on (IG).

      2. Press the vehicle approaching speaker switch 3 times within 3 seconds to operate (sound) the inspection buzzer.

        Tech Tips


        • The inspection buzzer will repeatedly operate (sound) 6 times for 5.5 seconds at 0.5-second intervals.


        • After the vehicle approaching speaker controller receives an operation request from the vehicle approaching speaker switch, the operation indicator continues to blink until the operation (sounding) completes.


        • Even if the vehicle approaching speaker switch is pressed while the inspection buzzer is operating (sounding), it will not stop operating (sounding).


        • If the vehicle approaching speaker switch is pressed 4 or more times within 3 seconds, the system will not operate (sound).

    2. System operation check (vehicle stopped)


      1. Apply the parking brake.

      2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

      3. Check that the vehicle approaching speaker switch indicator is turned off (vehicle approaching speaker switch off).

      4. With the brake pedal depressed, confirm that the vehicle proximity notification system does not operate (produce a sound) when the shift lever is moved from P to N.

      5. When the brake pedal is released, confirm that the vehicle proximity notification system operates for approximately 3 seconds (produces a sound).

    3. System operation check (vehicle being driven)


      1. Turn the power switch on (READY).

      2. Operate the EV drive mode switch and drive the vehicle using EV drive mode.

      3. Check that the vehicle approaching speaker switch indicator is turned off (vehicle approaching speaker switch off).

      4. When the shift lever is moved from P to D, confirm that the vehicle proximity notification system operates (produces a sound) when the vehicle is driven at speeds of 20 km/h (12 mph) or less using EV drive mode.

    4. Check system operation stop


      1. Turn the power switch on (READY).

      2. Operate the EV drive mode switch and drive the vehicle using EV drive mode.

      3. Check that the vehicle approaching speaker switch indicator is turned off (vehicle approaching speaker switch off).

      4. When the shift lever is moved from P to D, confirm that the vehicle proximity notification system operates (produces a sound) when the vehicle is driven at speeds of 20 km/h (12 mph) or less using EV drive mode.

      5. Press the vehicle approaching speaker switch and check that the indicator illuminates (vehicle approaching speaker switch on).

      6. Check that the EV driving mode is selected.

      7. Move the shift lever from P to D and check that the vehicle proximity notification system does not operate (sound) during EV driving at 20 km/h (12 mph) or less.
