SIDE MOULDING REMOVAL

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

  • When removing the moulding, heat the vehicle body and moulding using a heat light.

Heating Temperature

Vehicle Body 40 to 60°C (104 to 140°F)
Front Fender Moulding 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)
Front Door Outside Moulding 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)
Rear Door Outside Moulding 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

Note

Do not heat the vehicle body and moulding excessively.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE FRONT FENDER MOULDING SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      *1 Protective Tape
      *2 Wooden Block

      Put protective tape around the front fender moulding.

    2. Insert a piano wire between the vehicle body and front fender moulding sub-assembly LH.

    3. Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to both wire ends.

    4. Pull the piano wire and scrape off the double-sided tape that holds the front fender moulding sub-assembly LH to the vehicle body.

      Detach the clip and guide and remove the front fender moulding sub-assembly LH.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

  2. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE MOULDING SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      *1 Hole Plug

      Using a screwdriver, remove the front door hole plug.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Remove the nut.

      Put protective tape around the front door outside moulding sub-assembly LH.

    4. Insert a piano wire between the vehicle body and front door outside moulding sub-assembly LH.

    5. Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to both wire ends.

    6. Pull the piano wire and scrape off the double-sided tape that holds the front door outside moulding sub-assembly LH to the vehicle body.

      Detach the 6 clips and remove the front door outside moulding sub-assembly LH.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

  3. REMOVE REAR DOOR OUTSIDE MOULDING SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      Using a screwdriver, remove the rear door hole plug.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Remove the nut.

      Put protective tape around the rear door outside moulding sub-assembly LH.

    4. Insert a piano wire between the vehicle body and rear door outside moulding sub-assembly LH.

    5. Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to both wire ends.

    6. Pull the piano wire and scrape off the double-sided tape that holds the rear door outside moulding sub-assembly LH to the vehicle body.

      Detach the 4 clips and remove the rear door outside moulding sub-assembly LH.
