OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH

   
   
   1.

      *a	Component without harness connected (Outer Rear View Mirror Assembly LH)

      Check the operation of the retractable mirror.

      
      

      1. For each position: Disconnect the battery, set the mirror position by hand, connect the battery, and check the retractable mirror movement.

         OK

         Note

         
         

         • Disconnect and reconnect the battery between each mirror position check.

         • The mirror position cannot be changed manually when the battery is connected. To change the mirror position manually, the battery must be disconnected first.

         If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror actuator assembly LH.

   2.

      Check the operation of the mirror surface.

      
      

      1. Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror.

         OK

         Measurement Condition Specified Condition Battery positive (+) → Terminal 1 (MV) Battery negative (-) → Terminal 10 (M+) Turns upward Battery positive (+) → Terminal 10 (M+) Battery negative (-) → Terminal 1 (MV) Turns downward Battery positive (+) → Terminal 9 (MH) Battery negative (-) → Terminal 10 (M+) Turns left Battery positive (+) → Terminal 10 (M+) Battery negative (-) → Terminal 9 (MH) Turns right

         If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror actuator assembly LH.

   3.

      Check the operation of the mirror heater.

      
      

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

         Standard Resistance
         Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 4 (+) - 12 (-) 25°C (75°F) 3.6 to 4.8 Ω

         If the result is not as specified, check the outer mirror LH Click here.

         If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror actuator assembly LH.

   4.

      *c	Dark

      Check the EC mirror operation.

      Note

      Do not apply a voltage of 1.5 V or higher.

      
      

      1. Connect 1.5 V dry-cell battery.

      2. Apply 1.5 V battery voltage and check operation of the mirror face, as shown in the table and illustration.

         OK
         Measurement Connection Specified Condition 1.5 V Battery positive (+) → Terminal 7 (EC+) 1.5 V Battery negative (-) → Terminal 15 (EC-) Mirror surface becomes dark

         If the result is not as specified, check the outer mirror LH Click here.

         If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror actuator assembly LH.

   5.

      w/ Blind Spot Monitor:

      Check the operation of the blind spot monitor indicator.

      Note

      
      

      • Do not apply battery voltage to the EC mirror terminal.

      • Do not apply a voltage of 7.5 V or higher.

      
      

      1. Connect 4 new 1.5 V dry-cell batteries in series.

      2. Apply 6 V battery voltage to the terminals of the connector, and check the blind spot monitor indicator condition.

         OK
         Measurement Connection Specified Condition 6 V Battery positive (+) → Terminal 8 (BSL+) 6 V Battery negative (-) → Terminal 12 (-) Blind spot monitor indicator comes on

         If the result is not as specified, check the outer mirror LH Click here.

         If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror actuator assembly LH.

   6.

      Check the side turn signal light assembly LH.

      
      

      1. Apply battery voltage to the terminals of the connector, and check the illumination condition.

         OK
         Measurement Connection Specified Condition Battery positive (+) → Terminal 16 (B) Battery negative (-) → Terminal 12 (-) Side turn light illuminates

         If the result is not as specified, check the side turn signal light assembly LH Click here.

         If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror actuator assembly LH.

   7.

      Check the outer mirror light LH.

      
      

      1. Apply battery voltage to the terminals of the connector, and check the illumination condition.

         OK
         Measurement Connection Specified Condition Battery positive (+) → Terminal 2 (MLP) Battery negative (-) → Terminal 12 (-) Outer mirror light illuminates

         If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror actuator assembly LH.

2. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH

      Note

      Do not apply a voltage of 1.5 V or higher.

      
      

      1. Connect 1.5 V dry-cell battery.

      2. Apply 1.5 V battery voltage and check operation of the mirror face, as shown in the table and illustration.

         OK
         Measurement Connection Specified Condition 1.5 V Battery positive (+) → Terminal 7 (EC+) 1.5 V Battery negative (-) → Terminal 15 (EC-) Mirror surface becomes dark

         If the result is not as specified, check the outer mirror RH Click here.

         If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror actuator assembly RH.

   5.

      w/ Blind Spot Monitor:

      Check the operation of the blind spot monitor indicator.

      Note

      
      

      • Do not apply battery voltage to the EC mirror terminal.

      • Do not apply a voltage of 7.5 V or higher.

      
      

      1. Connect 4 new 1.5 V dry-cell batteries in series.

      2. Apply 6 V battery voltage to the terminals of the connector, and check the blind spot monitor indicator condition.

         OK
         Measurement Connection Specified Condition 6 V Battery positive (+) → Terminal 8 (BSR+) 6 V Battery negative (-) → Terminal 12 (-) Blind spot monitor indicator comes on

         If the result is not as specified, check the outer mirror RH Click here.

         If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror actuator assembly RH.

   6.

      Check the side turn signal light assembly RH.

      Note

      Do not apply battery voltage to the EC mirror terminal.

      
      

      1. Apply battery voltage to the terminals of the connector, and check the illumination condition.

         OK
         Measurement Connection Specified Condition Battery positive (+) → Terminal 16 (B) Battery negative (-) → Terminal 12 (-) Side turn light illuminates

         If the result is not as specified, check the side turn signal light assembly RH Click here.

         If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror actuator assembly RH.

   7.

      Check the outer mirror light RH.

      
      

      1. Apply battery voltage to the terminals of the connector, and check the illumination condition.

         OK

         If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror actuator assembly RH.
