PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY - TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER AND BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the L191 telematics transceiver connector.

    2. Disconnect the X4 and X6 map light assembly connectors.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X6-4 (IND1) - L191-11 (IND1) Always Below 1 Ω
      X6-5 (IND2) - L191-12 (IND2) Always Below 1 Ω
      X4-16 (GND9) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      X6-4 (IND1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      X6-5 (IND2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  2. INSPECT MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the map light assembly Click here.

    2. Connect 2 dry-cell batteries in series.

    3. A000V74E19

      Connect a positive (+) lead from the batteries to terminal 4 (IND1) or 5 (IND2), and a negative (-) lead to terminal 16 (GND9) of the map light assembly connector.

    4. Check if an emergency call switch indicator comes on.

      OK
      The indicator (red) comes on when the positive (+) lead from the batteries is connected to terminal 4 (IND1) and the negative (-) lead is connected to terminal 16 (GND9).
      The indicator (green) comes on when the positive (+) lead from the batteries is connected to terminal 5 (IND2) and the negative (-) lead is connected to terminal 16 (GND9).
