REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY
REPLACE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CASE OIL SEAL
Set the front differential carrier assembly to an overhaul stand as shown in the illustration.
for LH:
Using SST, remove the front differential case oil seal LH.
Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new front differential case oil seal LH to the front differential carrier assembly.
Standard depth
---
-0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0196 in.)
Note
Tap the front differential case oil seal LH uniformly so that the oil seal is straight.
Do not excessively tap the oil seal.
Make sure the difference between the maximum and minimum measured values is less than 0.57 mm (0.0224 in.), as a greater difference may lead to oil leaks.
for RH:
Using SST, remove the front differential case oil seal RH.
| *1 | Front Differential Case Oil Seal RH |
Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new front differential case oil seal RH to the front differential carrier assembly.
Standard depth
---
1.0 to 2.0 mm (0.0394 to 0.0787 in.)
Note
Tap the front differential case oil seal RH uniformly so that the front differential case oil seal RH is straight.
Do not excessively tap the oil seal.
Make sure the difference between the maximum and minimum measured values is less than 0.47 mm (0.0185 in.), as a greater difference may lead to oil leaks.
Remove the front differential carrier assembly from the overhaul stand.
