DESCRIPTION

In the event of a collision, the hybrid vehicle control ECU receives a signal from the airbag ECU assembly that indicates a collision. After a collision is detected, the hybrid vehicle control ECU shuts off the high-voltage systems for safety.

Tech Tips

If P1606-308 or P1606-317 is stored, the hybrid system cannot be turned on unless the DTCs are cleared using the intelligent tester.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK VEHICLE FOR COLLISION DAMAGE


    1. Check the vehicle condition.

      Result

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV)


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.

    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result
      DTC No. Proceed to
      P1606 only is output. A
      P0A1D is output. B

    1. Troubleshoot the airbag system.

  4. CHECK INFORMATION CODE


    1. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.

    2. Access the freeze frame data of DTC P1606 and read the INF code.
