INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    CAUTION:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Click here.

    Note

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Spare Tire)

    Click here

  3. REMOVE DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY (w/o Spare Tire)

  4. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE BOARD LH (w/o Spare Tire)

  5. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH

    Click here

  6. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  7. REMOVE SERVICE PLUG GRIP

  8. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH

  9. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH

  10. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY

    Click here

  11. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY LH

    Click here

  12. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY RH

  13. REMOVE SKID CONTROL ECU BRACKET (for LHD)

  14. REMOVE SKID CONTROL ECU BRACKET (for RHD)

  15. REMOVE ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (for LHD)

      *2 No. 6 Cover Sub-Assembly

      Remove the 4 nuts and engine cover sub-assembly LH.

  16. REMOVE NO. 6 COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for LHD)


    1. Remove the No. 6 cover sub-assembly.

  17. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK (for RHD)

  18. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE (for RHD)

      *2 No. 5 Cover Sub-Assembly

      Remove the 4 nuts and engine cover sub-assembly RH.

  20. REMOVE NO. 5 COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for RHD)


    1. Remove the No. 5 cover sub-assembly.

  21. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER

  22. REMOVE OUTLET ENGINE ROOM ECM DUCT

    Click here

  23. DISCONNECT HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR


    1. A000ZVL

      Disconnect the connector from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

  24. DISCONNECT NO. 2 CONNECTOR HOLDER

      *1 Holder
      *2 Clamp A

      Disconnect the 3 connectors.

    2. Detach the wire harness clamp A from the ECM box.

    3. Detach the 2 claws and remove the No. 2 connector holder.

  25. DISCONNECT ECM CONNECTOR


    1. A000XFS

      Disconnect the 4 ECM connectors and remove the engine wire harness from the ECM box.

  26. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE HARNESS (for LHD)


    1. Disconnect the engine wire harness connectors.

      Tech Tips

      To disconnect the 4 injector driver connectors, (1) push the claw downward and (2) move the lock lever to release the lock.

    2. Using a clip remover, detach the 4 engine wire harness clamps labeled A.

    3. Disconnect the 3 engine wire harness clamps labeled B.

    4. Remove the 4 bolts and disconnect the 4 ground cables.

    5. Remove the 3 bolts and disconnect the 3 wire harness brackets.

    6. Remove the 4 nuts and disconnect the engine wire harness protector from the intake manifold.

  27. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE HARNESS (for RHD)


    1. Disconnect the engine wire harness connectors.

      Tech Tips

      To disconnect the 4 injector driver connectors, (1) push the claw downward and (2) move the lock lever to release the lock.

    2. Using a clip remover, detach the 4 engine wire harness clamps labeled A.

    3. Disconnect the 3 engine wire harness clamps labeled B.

    4. Remove the 4 bolts and disconnect the 4 ground cables.

    5. Remove the 4 bolts and disconnect the 4 wire harness brackets.

    6. Remove the 4 nuts and disconnect the engine wire harness protector from the intake manifold.

  28. REMOVE INJECTOR DRIVER

    1. Disconnect the 4 injector driver connectors as follows: (1) push the claw downward, and (2) move the lock lever to release the lock.

    2. Using a clip remover, detach the 3 clamps.

      Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and injector driver.

    4. Remove the No. 1 engine cover.

  29. REMOVE FLEXIBLE HOSE BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY (for LHD)


    1. A000WEW

      Disconnect the flexible hose.

    2. Remove the bolt and flexible hose bracket sub-assembly.

  30. REMOVE ENGINE MOTOR CABLE CLAMP BRACKET (for LHD)


    1. A000ZON

      Using a clip remover, detach the wire harness clamp.

    2. Remove the bolt and engine motor cable clamp bracket.

  31. DISCONNECT MOTOR CABLE (for RHD)

    *1 Generator Cable
    *2 Motor Cable

    1. Detach the clamp and disconnect the motor cable.

  32. DISCONNECT GENERATOR CABLE (for RHD)


    1. Detach the 2 clamps and disconnect the generator cable.

  33. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE MOTOR CABLE CLAMP BRACKET (for RHD)

      Remove the bolt and No. 1 motor cable clamp bracket.

  34. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE MOTOR CABLE CLAMP BRACKET (for RHD)


    1. A000Y2W

      Using a clip remover, detach the 2 wire harness clamps.

    2. Remove the bolt and No. 2 engine motor cable clamp bracket.

  35. REMOVE NO. 3 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A000Y6B

      Remove the 2 clips and No. 3 cover sub-assembly.

  36. REMOVE WATER BY-PASS PIPE HOSE

    1. Disconnect the 4 water hoses and remove the 2 bolts and water by-pass pipe hose.

  37. REMOVE PURGE VSV

    A000U9W

    1. Disconnect the purge VSV connector.

    2. Disconnect the 2 purge line hoses.

    3. Remove the bolt and purge VSV.

  38. DISCONNECT PCV HOSE

    1. Disconnect the PCV hose from the intake manifold.

  39. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD


    1. A000ZLC

      Remove the 8 bolts, 2 nuts and intake manifold.

    2. Remove the 2 gaskets.
