CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL MOTOR ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

Tech Tips

When viewed from the rear of the engine assembly, Bank 1 is on the left side and Bank 2 is on the right side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT CAM TIMING CONTROL WITH EDU MOTOR ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch ON (IG).

    3. Turn the tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / VVT-iE Mot Direction #1 or VVT-iE Mot Direction #2.

      Tech Tips

      If not as specified, replace the cam timing control with EDU motor assembly. If symptoms still do not disappear, replace the wire harness.

    5. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    6. Put the engine inspection mode Click here.

    7. Turn the tester on.

    8. Warm up the engine.

    9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT-iE Linear (Bank 1) or Control the VVT-iE Linear (Bank 2) / All Data / VVT-iE Aim Angle #1 and VVT Change Angle #1 or VVT-iE Aim Angle #2 and VVT Change Angle #2.

    10. Perform the Active Test operation with the engine speed at 1500 rpm.

      0 deg → 10 deg → 20 deg → 40 deg → 10 deg → 0 deg → 10 deg → END Within 4 DegFR
