CAMSHAFT OIL CONTROL VALVE ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

   2. Put the engine in inspection mode Click here.

   3. Start the engine and turn the tester on.

   4. Warm up the engine.

   5. Idle the engine.

   6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank1) or Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank2).

      Tech Tips

      
      

      • Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank1): Command to activate exhaust side oil control valve of bank 1.

      • Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank2): Command to activate exhaust side oil control valve of bank 2.

   7. Check the engine speed while operating the Oil Control Valve (OCV) using the tester.

      Standard
      Tester Operation Specified Condition 0% Normal engine speed 127% Engine idles roughly

      If the result is not as specified, check the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly, oil control valve filter, wirings and camshaft timing exhaust gear assembly.
