REAR BUMPER REASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL REAR BUMPER PAD (for 5 Door)

    Tech Tips


    • When installing the rear bumper pad, heat the rear bumper using a heat light.

    • Use the same procedure for the RH side.

    Standard
    Item Temperature
    Rear Bumper Cover 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

    Note

    Do not heat the rear bumper cover excessively.


    1. Clean the rear bumper cover surface.


      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper cover surface.

      2. Remove the double-sided tape from the rear bumper cover.

      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

      Install 2 new rear bumper pads.


      1. Remove the peeling paper from the face of 2 new rear bumper pads.

        Tech Tips

        After removing the peeling paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

      2. Align the 2 rear bumper pads with the mark-off line of the rear bumper.

      3. Install the 2 rear bumper pads.

  2. INSTALL REAR BUMPER PAD (for 3 Door)

    Tech Tips


    • When installing the rear bumper pad, heat the rear bumper using a heat light.

    • Use the same procedure for the RH side.

    Standard
    Item Temperature
    Rear Bumper Cover 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

    Note

    Do not heat the rear bumper cover excessively.


    1. Clean the rear bumper cover surface.


      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper cover surface.

      2. Remove the double-sided tape from the rear bumper cover.

      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

      Install a new rear bumper pad.


      1. Remove the peeling paper from the face of a new rear bumper pad.

        Tech Tips

        After removing the peeling paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

      2. Align the rear bumper pad with the mark-off line of the rear bumper.

      3. Install the rear bumper pad.

  3. INSTALL REFLEX REFLECTOR ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Reflex Reflector Assembly)


    1. Attach the claw and guide to install the reflex reflector assembly LH.

    2. Install the screw.

      Torque:
      5.0 N*m  { 51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf }

  4. INSTALL REFLEX REFLECTOR ASSEMBLY RH (w/ Reflex Reflector Assembly)

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  5. INSTALL REAR FOG LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Rear Fog Light)

  7. INSTALL REAR BUMPER PROTECTOR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Attach the guide to install the rear bumper protector sub-assembly LH.

    2. Install the grommet.

    3. Install the screw.

  8. INSTALL REAR BUMPER PROTECTOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  9. INSTALL REAR CORNER ULTRASONIC SENSOR RETAINER (w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System)

  14. INSTALL NO. 5 FLOOR WIRE (w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System, w/ Rear Fog Light)


    1. Attach the 5 clamps to install the No. 5 floor wire.

    2. Connect the 3 connectors.

  15. INSTALL NO. 5 FLOOR WIRE (w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System, w/o Rear Fog Light)


    1. Attach the 5 clamps to install the No. 5 floor wire.

    2. Connect the 2 connectors.

  16. INSTALL NO. 5 FLOOR WIRE (w/o TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System, w/ Rear Fog Light)


    1. Attach the 2 clamps to install the No. 5 floor wire.

    2. Connect the connector.

  17. INSTALL NO. 4 FLOOR WIRE (w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System, w/ Rear Fog Light)

    Use the same procedure described for the No. 5 floor wire.

  18. INSTALL NO. 4 FLOOR WIRE (w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System, w/o Rear Fog Light)

  20. INSTALL REAR BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER

    When installing the rear bumper energy absorber, heat the rear bumper cover using a heat light.

    Standard

    Rear Bumper Cover 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

    Note

    Do not heat the rear bumper cover excessively.


    1. When using a new rear bumper cover:


      1. Clean the rear bumper cover surface.

      2. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper cover surface.

    2. When reusing the rear bumper cover:


      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper cover surface.

      2. Remove the double-sided tape from the rear bumper cover.

      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

    3. When reusing the rear bumper energy absorber:


      1. Remove the double-sided tape from the rear bumper cover.

      2. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

        *b 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.)
        *c 30 mm (1.18 in.)
        *d 50 mm (1.97 in.)

        Install the double-sided tape as shown in the illustration.

    4. Install the rear bumper energy absorber.


      1. Remove the peeling paper from the face of the rear bumper energy absorber.

        Tech Tips

        After removing the peeling paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

        Align the guide and install the rear bumper energy absorber to rear bumper cover as shown in the illustration.

        Tech Tips

        Press the rear bumper energy absorber firmly to install it.
