PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/ Rain Sensor)


    1. for LHD Windshield Wiper Switch and RHD Windshield Wiper Switch RH Side Type:

        Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  2. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/o Rain Sensor)

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

      2. Check the intermittent operation.


        1. Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G42-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G43-4 (EW).

        2. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.

        3. Operate the intermittent wiper and check the voltage between terminals G42-3 (+1) and G43-4 (EW).

          OK
          Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

          *c 1.6 +/- 1 second *d 10.7 +/- 5 seconds

          If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

      3. Check the front washer operation.


        1. Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G43-7 (WF) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G43-4 (EW).

        2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

        3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals G43-7 (WF) and G43-4 (EW).

          OK
          Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.

          If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

    2. for RHD Windshield Wiper Switch LH Side Type:

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

      2. Check the intermittent operation.


        1. Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G42-2 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G43-7 (EW).

        2. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.

        3. Operate the intermittent wiper and check the voltage between terminals G42-2 (+1) and G43-7 (EW).

          OK
          Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

          *c 1.6 +/- 1 second *d 10.7 +/- 5 seconds

          If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

      3. Check the front washer operation.


        1. Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G43-4 (WF) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G43-7 (EW).

        2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

        3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals G43-4 (WF) and G43-7 (EW).

          OK
          Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.
