WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEM PRECAUTION

  1. IGNITION SWITCH EXPRESSION

    Tech Tips

The type of ignition switch used on this model differs according to the specifications of the vehicle. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.

Expression Ignition Switch (position) Engine Switch (condition)
    Ignition Switch off Off Off
Ignition Switch ON ON On (IG)
Ignition Switch ACC ACC On (ACC)
    Engine Start START Start
  2. PRECAUTION OF WASHER NOZZLE ADJUSTMENT

    1. Do not clean or adjust the washer nozzle with a safety pin, etc. for the following reasons:

      1. The washer nozzle tip is made of resin and could be for the following reasons.

      2. Adjustment is not necessary for this spray-type washer nozzle. If it is necessary to change the nozzle angle, replace the washer nozzle with one that has a different nozzle angle.

    2. If the washer nozzle is clogged with wax, etc., remove it and clean the nozzle hole with a soft resin brush or other cleaning tool.

  3. PRECAUTIONS FOR OF RAIN SENSOR

    1. When the windshield wiper switch AUTO switch is in ON, the wiper will operate once, regardless of the amount of raindrops.

    2. When it is not raining, the ignition switch to ON and the front wiper switch is in AUTO, the rain sensor may react and the wipers may operate when the rain sensor (inside detection area) of the windshield is touched by hand, or when a wet cloth or other material that contains water is close. This may lead to injury or damage to the wipers or other objects.

Also, if the rain sensor or a part nearby (windshield, rain sensor cover, etc.) is vibrated, the rain sensor may react and the wipers may operate.

    3. If water repellent coating is applied to the windshield glass, the rain sensor may not be able to accurately detect the amount of rainfall and the auto wiper may not operate normally.

    4. As the rain sensor uses an optical sensor, when the windshield is continuously in direct sunlight in the morning or evening or the windshield is dirty due to bugs, etc., the system may not operate properly.

    5. The rain sensor may not AUTO operation may not operate if the rain sensor temperature is 90°C (194°F) or higher, or -15°C (5°F) or less.

    6. When in AUTO mode, the wiper may not operate due to the windshield wiper relay assembly current cut function operation to prevent overcurrent from the motor lock due to snow or deposits of foreign matter.

In this case, after removing the cause of the motor lock, the system can be returned to the normal condition by turning the ignition switch to ON from off, or turning the windshield wiper switch to continuous LO operation or continuous HI operation.
