FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

CAUTION:


  • Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Click here.

  • Wear protective gloves. Sharp areas on the seat frame and adjuster may injure your hands.

  • If the side airbag was deployed, replace the front seat side airbag assembly, separate type front seatback spring assembly, separate type front seatback cover and separate type front seatback pad with the necessary parts in accordance with the extent of the collision damage.

  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the RH side. (for Walk in Seat Type)

PROCEDURE


  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note


    • After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work. Click here

    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER TRACK BRACKET COVER LH

  14. DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY


    1. w/o Seatback Board:

        Remove the rubber band from the seat cushion spring.

    2. for Manual Seat, Power Seat:

        *1 Fastening Tape

        Detach the claw and disconnect the airbag connector.

      2. Detach the 3 airbag wire harness clamps.

      3. Detach the fastening tape and open the cover.

      4. Disconnect the airbag wire harness.

    3. for Walk in Seat Type:

        Remove the rubber band from the seat cushion spring.

        Detach the claw and disconnect the airbag connector.

      3. Detach the 4 airbag wire harness clamps.

      4. Detach the fastening tape and open the cover.

      5. Disconnect the airbag wire harness.

  15. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEATBACK COVER WITH PAD

    Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

      w/ Seat Heater System:


      1. Disconnect the seat heater connector and detach the wire harness clamp.

    2. w/o Seatback Board:

        Remove the 3 hog rings.

      2. Open the 2 fasteners, and then open the front seatback cover.

    3. w/ Seatback Board:

        Detach the hooks.

      2. B001GJE

        Remove the 5 hog rings.

      Remove the nut and front seatback cover bracket.

      Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 claws to remove the 2 front seat headrest supports.

    6. Remove the separate type seatback cover with pad.

  16. REMOVE FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

    CAUTION:

    When storing the front seat side airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

      Detach the 2 clamps.

      Remove the 2 nuts and front seat side airbag assembly.

      CAUTION:


      • The nuts must not be reused.

      • Make sure that the separate type front seatback spring assembly is not deformed. If it is, replace it with a new one.
