ULTRASONIC SENSOR(for Front) INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL FRONT CORNER ULTRASONIC SENSOR RETAINER

    Tech Tips


    • Perform this step only when necessary.

    • If a front corner ultrasonic sensor retainer has been removed, replace it with a new one. Install the front corner ultrasonic sensor with a new front corner ultrasonic sensor retainer as a set to the front bumper cover.

    • Use the same procedure to install the front corner ultrasonic sensor retainer on the other side.


    1. Clean the front bumper cover surface.


      1. Remove the remaining double-sided tape from the front bumper cover.

      2. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

      Cover the sensor installation hole with a 17 mm (0.67 in.) square piece of tape.

      Using a brush or felt, apply primer or equivalent to the front corner ultrasonic sensor retainer installation area.

      Note


      • Use a clean brush or felt.

      • Do not touch the front bumper cover until the primer has dried.

    4. Using a heat light, heat the front bumper cover.

      Item Temperature
      Front Bumper Cover 40 to 60°C (104 to 140°F)

      Note

      Do not heat the front bumper cover excessively.

    5. Peel off the release paper from a new front corner ultrasonic sensor retainer.

    6. Align the front corner ultrasonic sensor retainer with the alignment line and set it on the front bumper cover as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      The double-sided tape of a front corner ultrasonic sensor retainer will deteriorate if it is detached. Make sure to replace the front corner ultrasonic sensor retainer with a new one when reattachment is necessary.

      Tech Tips


      • Align the connector side with the protrusion of the mark and install it.

      • Press the front corner ultrasonic sensor retainer with a force of 30 N (3.0 kgf) for 3 seconds and install the front corner ultrasonic sensor retainer firmly so that there is no clearance between the front corner ultrasonic sensor retainer and front bumper cover.

  2. INSTALL FRONT CORNER ULTRASONIC SENSOR

    Note

    When reusing the ultrasonic sensor, make sure that each ultrasonic sensor is returned to its original position.

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure to install the front corner ultrasonic sensor on the other side.


    1. Attach the 2 claws to install the front corner ultrasonic sensor.

    2. Connect the connector.
