PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (MANUAL (SOS) SWITCH)

      Component without harness connected

      (Map Light Assembly (Manual (SOS) Switch))

      Remove the map light assembly (manual (SOS) switch).

      Click here

    2. Connect 4 dry-cell batteries (1.5 V each) in series.

    3. Connect a positive (+) from the batteries lead to terminal 17 (RRID) and a negative (-) lead to terminal 15 (GND1) or terminal 16 (GND2) of the map light assembly (manual (SOS) switch) connector.

    4. Check if the manual (SOS) switch illuminates.

      OK
      Manual (SOS) switch illuminates.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (MANUAL (SOS) SWITCH) - TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER AND BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the G187 telematics transceiver connector.

    2. Disconnect the W7 map light assembly (manual (SOS) switch) connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G187-9 (SLED) - W7-17 (RRID) Always Below 1 Ω
      G187-9 (SLED) or W7-17 (RRID) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      W7-15 (GND1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      W7-16 (GND2) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
