VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM(for Vacuum Brake Booster), Diagnostic DTC:C1429

DTC Code DTC Name
C1429 Open or Short in Brake Pedal Load Sensing Switch

DESCRIPTION

The brake pedal load sensing switch operates when the brake pedal is depressed with force exceeding a predetermined level.

The skid control ECU detects if the brake pedal is depressed or not via this circuit.

DTC Code DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
C1429 An open or short in the brake pedal load sensing switch continues for 0.3 seconds or more.
  • Brake pedal load sensing switch (Brake with switch pedal sub-assembly)

  • Brake pedal load sensing switch circuit

  • Brake actuator assembly (Skid control ECU)

PROCEDURE

  1. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SW)

    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    4. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Data List.

    Note

    • Do not remove the brake pedal load sensing switch from the brake with switch pedal sub-assembly.

    • When there is a malfunction in the brake pedal load sensing switch, replace the brake with switch pedal sub-assembly.

    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Make sure that there is no looseness in the locking part and connecting part of the connector.

    3. Disconnect the A11 brake pedal load sensing switch connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (FSW+) - 1 (FSW-) Brake pedal depressed 0.9 to 1.1 kΩ
      Brake pedal released 192 to 234 Ω

    OK
  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SWITCH)

    1. Make sure that there is no looseness in the locking part and connecting part of the connector.

    2. Disconnect the A6 skid control ECU connector.

    3. Disconnect the A11 brake pedal load sensing switch connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A6-27 (FSW+) - A11-2 (FSW+) Always Below 1 Ω
A6-27 (FSW+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A11-1 (FSW-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
