4WD CONTROL SWITCH(w/o Combination Switch) ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT TRANSFER POSITION SWITCH

   
   

   1. Check the 4 wheel drive control ECU.

      
      

      1. Disconnect the switch connector.

      2. 

         *a	Component without harness connected (4wd Control Switch)

         for 2-MODE 4WD:

         Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

         Standard Resistance
         Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 2 (LO) - 4 (GND2) H4 10 kΩ or higher L4 Below 1 Ω

         If the result is not as specified, replace the 4wd control switch Click here

      3. 

         *a	Front view of wire harness connector (to 4wd Control Switch)

         for 3-MODE 4WD:

         Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

         Standard Voltage
         Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 2 (LO) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 10.5 to 14 V 5 (HI) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 10.5 to 14 V

      4. Reconnect the 4wd control switch connector.

      5. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (to 4 wheel drive control ECU)

         Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

         Standard Voltage
         Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 2 (LO) - 4 (GND) Ignition switch ON 10.5 to 14 V 5 (HI) - 4 (GND) Ignition switch ON 10.5 to 14 V

         If the result is not as specified, replace the 4 wheel drive control ECU Click here

         If the result is normal, replace the 4wd control switch Click here

   2. 

      *a	Front view of wire harness connector (to 4wd Control Switch)

      Apply battery voltage between the terminals of the switch, and check the illumination condition of the 4wd control switch .

      Standard
      Measurement Condition Specified Condition Battery positive (+) → 1 (ILL+) Battery negative (-) → 3 (ILL-) Illuminates

      If the result is not as specified, replace the 4wd control switch.
