PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK CENTER DIFFERENTIAL LOCK INDICATOR LIGHT


    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    2. Check the center differential lock indicator light.

    3. for 1GR-FE, 1KD-FTV, 1GD-FTV w/ Combination Switch (Automatic Transmission):

      Press the center differential lock switch (combination switch assembly).

      for 1GR-FE, 1KD-FTV, 1GD-FTV w/o Combination Switch (Automatic Transmission):

      Press the center differential lock switch (No. 2 combination switch assembly).

      for 1GR-FE, 1KD-FTV, 1GD-FTV w/o Combination Switch (Manual Transmission):

      Press the center differential lock switch.

    4. After 60 seconds, check the center differential lock indicator light.

      The center differential lock indicator light blinks, turns off or illuminates A
      Center differential lock indicator light remains off regardless of switch operation B
      Center differential lock indicator remains illuminated regardless of switch operation C
      Center differential lock indicator light rapidly blinks D

      • Blinking: Blinks at 0.5 second intervals (0.5 seconds on and 0.5 seconds off)

      • Rapidly blinking: Blinks at 0.25 second intervals (0.25 seconds on and 0.25 seconds off)

    1. Select "Bus Check" from the System Selection Menu screen, and follow the prompts on the screen to inspect the CAN bus (w/ Central Gateway ECU: See page , w/o Central Gateway ECU: Click here.

      "Bus Check" indicates no malfunctions in CAN communication.

  3. READ VALUE USING GTS


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Four Wheel Drive / Data List.

    6. According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List.

  4. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Perform an Active Test of the combination meter assembly using the GTS Click here.

    3. Check the combination meter assembly.

      OK
      The center differential lock indicator light turns on or off in accordance with the GTS.

    OK

    REPLACE 4 WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL ECU Click here

  5. INSPECT COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY OR CENTER DIFFERENTIAL LOCK SWITCH


    1. for 1GR-FE, 1KD-FTV, 1GD-FTV w/ Combination Switch (Automatic Transmission):


      1. Remove the center differential lock switch (combination switch assembly) Click here.

      2. Inspect the center differential lock switch (combination switch assembly) Click here.

        OK
        The center differential lock switch (combination switch assembly) operates normally.

    2. for 1GR-FE, 1KD-FTV, 1GD-FTV w/o Combination Switch (Automatic Transmission):


      1. Remove the center differential lock switch (No. 2 combination switch assembly) Click here.

      2. Inspect the center differential lock switch (No. 2 combination switch assembly) Click here.

        OK
        The center differential lock switch (No. 2 combination switch assembly) operates normally.

    3. for 1GR-FE, 1KD-FTV, 1GD-FTV w/o Combination Switch (Manual Transmission):

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (4 WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL ECU - COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY OR CENTER DIFFERENTIAL LOCK SWITCH)


    1. Disconnect the G53 4 wheel drive control ECU connector.

    2. for 1GR-FE, 1KD-FTV, 1GD-FTV w/ Combination Switch (Automatic Transmission):

      Disconnect the G156 center differential lock switch (combination switch assembly) connector.

      for 1GR-FE, 1KD-FTV, 1GD-FTV w/o Combination Switch (Automatic Transmission):

      Disconnect the G156 center differential lock switch (No. 2 combination switch assembly) connector.

    3. for 1GR-FE, 1KD-FTV, 1GD-FTV w/o Combination Switch (Manual Transmission):

      Disconnect the G230 center differential lock switch connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      for 1GR-FE, 1KD-FTV, 1GD-FTV w/ Combination Switch (Automatic Transmission) or for 1GR-FE, 1KD-FTV, 1GD-FTV w/o Combination Switch (Automatic Transmission):

    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    6. According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List.

      1. for 1GR-FE, 1KD-FTV, 1GD-FTV w/ Combination Switch (Automatic Transmission):

        Turn the differential lock switch (combination switch assembly) on and off several times and check the GTS display condition of the center differential lock indicator light.

        for 1GR-FE, 1KD-FTV, 1GD-FTV w/o Combination Switch (Automatic Transmission):

        Turn the differential lock switch (No. 2 combination switch assembly) on and off several times and check the GTS display condition of the center differential lock indicator light.

        for 1GR-FE, 1KD-FTV, 1GD-FTV w/o Combination Switch (Manual Transmission):

        Turn the differential lock switch on and off several times and check the GTS display condition of the center differential lock indicator light.
