CLUTCH UNIT(for 1GR-FE) INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL CLUTCH DISC ASSEMBLY


    1. A01XG2BE01

      Insert SST into the clutch disc, and then install SST and the clutch disc together to the flywheel.

      Note

      Be sure to install the clutch disc so that it is facing in the correct direction.

  2. INSTALL CLUTCH COVER ASSEMBLY

    1. Align the matchmark on the clutch cover with the one on the flywheel.

    2. Following the order shown in the illustration, tighten the 6 bolts, starting with the bolt located near the knock pin at the top.

      Torque:
      19 N*m  { 194 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips


      • Following the order in the illustration, tighten the bolts evenly one at a time.

      • Move SST up and down, and right and left lightly after checking that the clutch disc assembly is in the center, and then tighten the bolts.

  3. INSPECT AND ADJUST CLUTCH COVER ASSEMBLY

    1. Using a dial indicator with a roller instrument, check the diaphragm spring tip alignment.

      Maximum misalignment
      0.5 mm (0.0196 in.)

      If the misalignment is more than the maximum, using SST, adjust the diaphragm spring tip alignment.

  4. INSTALL CLUTCH RELEASE FORK SUB-ASSEMBLY

      *1 Release hub grease

      Apply release hub grease to the release fork, release bearing, push rod contact point and pivot points shown in the illustration.

      Grease
      Toyota Genuine Release Hub Grease or equivalent
    2. A01XFYYE01
      Text in Illustration
      *1 Clutch spline grease

      Apply clutch spline grease to the input shaft spline.

      Grease
      Toyota Genuine Clutch Spline Grease or equivalent

    3. Install the clutch release bearing to the clutch release fork with the clip.

    4. Install the release fork support to the transmission unit.

      Torque:
      47 N*m  { 480 kgf*cm, 35 ft.*lbf }

    5. Install the clutch release fork with the clutch release bearing to the transmission unit.

      Tech Tips

      After installation, move the fork back and forth to check that the release bearing slides smoothly.
