PROCEDURE
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Note
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.
REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY
REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH
REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FENDER APRON TO FRAME SEAL RH
DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
REMOVE LOWER TRANSFER CASE PROTECTOR
Remove the 4 bolts and lower transfer case protector.
REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
REMOVE FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY
REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY
DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
Remove the nut and clip and disconnect the transmission control cable from the transmission.
DISCONNECT NO. 1 INLET OIL COOLER TUBE AND NO. 1 OUTLET OIL COOLER TUBE
Remove the 3 bolts and open the 3 oil cooler tube clamps.
Using a union nut wrench, disconnect the No. 1 inlet oil cooler tube and No. 1 outlet oil cooler tube from each oil cooler tube union.
REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY
for 2.2 kW Type:

for 3.0 kW Type:
Remove the starter Click here.
REMOVE OIL PAN INSULATOR
Remove the 2 bolts and oil pan insulator.
SUPPORT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY
Support the transmission with a transmission jack. Lift the transmission slightly from the crossmember.
REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACKET LH AND RH
Remove the 8 bolts, front bracket suspension member LH and front bracket suspension member RH.
REMOVE NO. 3 FRAME CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY
Remove the 4 bolts of the rear engine mounting insulator.
Remove the 4 nuts, 4 bolts and frame crossmember.
REMOVE REAR NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR
Remove the 4 bolts and rear engine mounting insulator from the transmission.
REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER SETTING BOLT
Turn the crankshaft to gain access to the 6 bolts and remove each bolt while holding the crankshaft pulley bolt with a wrench.
Tech Tips
If it is difficult to reach the setting bolts with the wrench, raise or lower the transmission jack until there is sufficient space for the wrench.
DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
Tilt the transmission downward.
Note
Make sure the cooling fan does not contact the fan shroud.
Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector, transmission wire connector, 2 speed sensor connectors and transfer control side connector.
Tech Tips
Detach the claw, press down the lever, and then disconnect the transmission wire connector.
Detach the 7 harness clamps and disconnect the wire harness.
REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY
Remove the 9 bolts and automatic transmission.
Note
Do not use excess force to pry on the transmission assembly.
REMOVE WIRING HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET
Remove the bolt and wiring harness clamp bracket.
REMOVE TRANSFER ASSEMBLY
REMOVE NO. 1 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET
Remove the 2 bolts and transmission control cable bracket.
REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY
INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY
