P1631 Communication Error from ECM to VSC

DESCRIPTION

The ECM is the only component that has a function to store and output DTCs in the dynamic radar cruise control system. Therefore, if the skid control ECU detects a communication error from the ECM, it sends a malfunction signal back to the ECM.

DTC Code DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
P1631 While the vehicle speed is 50 km/h (31 mph) or more with the cruise control switch on, the ECM continuously receives a logical error signal from the skid control ECU for 1 second.

  • Hydraulic brake booster assembly (Skid control ECU)

  1. REPLACE ECM


    1. for 1GR-FE:

      Replace the ECM Click here.

    2. for 1KD-FTV:

      Replace the ECM Click here.

    3. for 1GD-FTV:

      Replace the ECM Click here.

  2. CHECK FOR DTC


    1. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    2. Perform the following to make sure the DTC detection conditions are met.

      Tech Tips

      If the detection conditions are not met, the system cannot detect the malfunction.


      1. Drive the vehicle at a speed of 50 km/h (31 mph) or more.

      2. Turn the cruise control switch on.

    3. Check for DTCs Click here.
