CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM FAIL-SAFE CHART

Tech Tips

If the following conditions are detected while cruise control is in operation, the system clears the stored vehicle speed in the ECM and cancels cruise control.

Vehicle Condition Auto Cancel Condition Fail-safe Deactivation Condition

  • w/o Multi-information Display

    • Cruise control indicator light remains on (yellow) until the cruise control main switch is turned off

  • w/ Multi-information Display

    • Cruise control indicator light goes off, master warning light comes on with a warning sound, and failure display is shown until the cruise control main switch is turned off

  • There is an open or short in the stop light switch circuit

  • There is a problem with the vehicle speed signal (except 2TR-FE)

  • There is a problem with the input circuit of the stop light switch circuit

  • There is a problem with the cancel circuit

Turn the ignition switch off

Cruise control indicator light remains on

(Cruise control is canceled)

Under either of the following conditions, cruise control operation is canceled but the stored vehicle speed is maintained:

  • The vehicle speed is less than the low speed limit (approximately 40 km/h [25 mph]) while driving with the cruise control system in operation

  • The vehicle stability control system is operated

  • A cancellation request is received from the transfer system while the vehicle is being driven

  • TRC operates for a certain amount of time (except 1KD-FTV, 1GR-FE [except Europe, Australia] and 2TR-FE [except Russia])

  • TRC and VSC are turned off except 1KD-FTV, 1GR-FE [except Europe, Australia] and 2TR-FE [except Russia])

Push the cruise control main switch to +RES

Under the following condition, cruise control operation is canceled but the stored vehicle speed is maintained:

  • The vehicle speed is less than the stored speed by approximately 16 km/h (10 mph) or more

Push the cruise control main switch to -SET
