THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM(for 5L-E) Engine Hood Courtesy Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The engine hood courtesy switch is installed together with the hood lock. This switch turns on when the engine hood is closed and turns off when the engine hood is opened.

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (HOOD COURTESY SW)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.

    5. According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List.

    1. Remove the hood lock assembly (engine hood courtesy switch).

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY [ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH] - MAIN BODY ECU [MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU] AND BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the A27 hood lock assembly (engine hood courtesy switch) connector.

    2. Disconnect the G64 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.

    3. Disconnect the 2F driver side junction block assembly connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A27-2 (HWM+) - G64-12 (HD2) Always Below 1 Ω
      A27-3 (HWM-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      A27-1 (+) - 2F-23 Always Below 1 Ω
      A27-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      A27-2 (HWM+) or G64-12 (HD2) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A27-1 (+) or A-28 (HCTY) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  4. INSPECT DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the driver side junction block assembly.
