DESCRIPTION

The ECM operates the AIR PMP HTR relay which causes the air pump heater to operate.

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT AIR PMP HTR RELAY


    1. Inspect the AIR PMP HTR relay Click here.


    NG
    OK
  2. CHECK AIR PMP HTR RELAY (POWER SOURCE)


    1. Remove the AIR PMP HTR relay.

      Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      AIR PMP HTR relay terminal 1 - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
    3. Reinstall the AIR PMP HTR relay.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - AIR PMP HTR RELAY)


    1. Remove the AIR PMP HTR relay.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      AIR PMP HTR relay terminal 2 - G56-30 (HAI1) Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      AIR PMP HTR relay terminal 2 or G56-30 (HAI1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reinstall the AIR PMP HTR relay.

    5. Reconnect the ECM connector.
