SFI SYSTEM PRECAUTION


  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note


    • After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Click here.

    • When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal while performing repairs, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  2. INITIALIZATION

    Note


    • Perform Registration (VIN registration or frame number registration) when replacing the ECM Click here.

    • If the ECM is replaced, register the ECM communication ID for the immobiliser system (refer to the Service Bulletin for Registration).

    • for Automatic Transmission

      Perform initialization (throttle position) after replacing the throttle body with motor assembly or cleaning any throttle body components Click here.

    • for Manual Transmission:


      • Perform initialization (throttle position) after reconnecting the battery cable or replacing the ECM Click here.

      • Perform initialization (throttle position) after replacing the throttle body with motor assembly or cleaning any throttle body components Click here.

    Tech Tips

    Initialization cannot be completed only by disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal.

  3. USING GTS

    CAUTION:

    Observe the following items for safety reasons:


    • Read the GTS's instruction books before using the GTS.

    • Make sure that the GTS cable is not caught on the pedals, shift lever or steering wheel when driving with the GTS connected to the vehicle.

    • When driving the vehicle for testing purposes using the GTS, two persons are required. One person drives the vehicle and the other operates the GTS.
