EXHAUST PIPE INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

      Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression spring.

      Minimum free length
      41.5 mm (1.63 in.)

      If the length is less than the minimum, replace the compression spring.

      Using a plastic-faced hammer and wooden block, tap in a new gasket until its surface is flush with the exhaust manifold.

      Note


      • Be sure to install the gasket so that it faces the correct direction.

      • Do not reuse the gasket.

      • Do not damage the gasket.

      • When connecting the front exhaust pipe assembly, do not push in the gasket with the front exhaust pipe assembly.

    3. Connect the front exhaust pipe assembly to the exhaust pipe support.

    4. Install the front exhaust pipe assembly to the exhaust manifold with the 2 compression springs and 2 bolts. Alternately tighten the bolts in several passes.

      Torque:
      43 N*m  { 438 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf }
  2. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR

  3. INSTALL AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR

  4. INSTALL CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY


    1. Install a new gasket.

    2. Connect the center exhaust pipe assembly to the 2 exhaust pipe supports.

    3. Install the center exhaust pipe assembly to the front exhaust pipe assembly with the 2 bolts. Alternately tighten the bolts in several passes.

      Torque:
      48 N*m  { 489 kgf*cm, 35 ft.*lbf }
  5. INSTALL TAILPIPE ASSEMBLY


    1. Install a new gasket.

    2. Connect the tailpipe assembly to the exhaust pipe support.

    3. Install the tailpipe assembly to the center exhaust pipe assembly with the 2 bolts. Alternately tighten the bolts in several passes.

      Torque:
      48 N*m  { 489 kgf*cm, 35 ft.*lbf }
  6. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK

    If gas is leaking, tighten the areas necessary to stop the leak. Replace damaged parts as necessary.
