      *a

      Component without harness connected

      (Vacuum Switching Valve)

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 37 to 44 Ω

      1 - Body ground

      2 - Body ground

      20°C (68°F) 1 MΩ or higher

If the result is not as specified, replace the vacuum switching valve.

    2. Check operation of the vacuum switching valve.

        *1 Port E
        *2 Filter

Attach a vacuum pump to port E and check that vacuum does not flow from the filter to port E.

        *1 Port E
        *2 Filter

Apply battery voltage across terminals 1 and 2.

      3. Attach a vacuum pump to port E and check that vacuum flows from the filter to port E.

If the result is not as specified, replace the vacuum switching valve.

  2. INSPECT VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE (for EGR Bypass Valve)

      *a

      Component without harness connected

      (Vacuum Switching Valve)

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 37 to 44 Ω

      1 - Body ground

      2 - Body ground

      20°C (68°F) 1 MΩ or higher

If the result is not as specified, replace the vacuum switching valve.

      *1 Port E
      *2 Port F
      *3 Vacuum
      *4 Air
      *5 Filter

Check operation of the vacuum switching valve.

      1. When a vacuum of 67 kPa (500 mmHg, 19.7 in.Hg) is applied to port F, check that air flows from port E to the filter.

        Text in Illustration
        *1 Port E
        *2 Port F
        *3 Air

Apply battery voltage across terminals 1 and 2.

      3. Check that air flows from port E to port F.

If the result is not as specified, replace the vacuum switching valve.
