DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:U0235, U1104

DTC Code DTC Name
U0235 Lost Communication with Cruise Control Front Distance Range Sensor
U1104 Lost Communication with Driving Support ECU

DESCRIPTION

The millimeter wave radar sensor assembly and driving support ECU assembly transmit the data for general vehicle control and diagnosis function via CAN communication line. The millimeter wave radar sensor assembly transmits information about the vehicle in front to the driving support ECU assembly.

DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
U0235 When the power switch is on (IG), a communication error between the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly and the driving support ECU assembly is detected for 1 second or more.
  • Millimeter wave radar sensor assembly

  • CAN communication system

  • Driving support ECU assembly

U1104 When the power switch is on (IG), a communication error between the driving support ECU assembly and the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly is detected for 1 second or more.
  • Millimeter wave radar sensor assembly

  • CAN communication system

  • Driving support ECU assembly

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

  • When the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly is replaced with a new one, adjustment of the radar sensor beam axis must be performed Click here.

  • Check that the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly has not been replaced with one from another vehicle.

  • When replacing the driving support ECU assembly, always replace it with a new one. If a driving support ECU assembly which was installed to another vehicle is used, the information stored in the driving support ECU assembly will not match the information from the vehicle. As a result, a DTC may be stored.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR ASSEMBLY - DRIVING SUPPORT ECU ASSEMBLY)

    1. Disconnect the A86 millimeter wave radar sensor assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the I183 driving support ECU assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A86-3 (CA1P) - I183-40 (CA1P) Always Below 1 Ω
      A86-2 (CA1N) - I183-18 (CA1N) Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A86-3 (CA1P) or I183-40 (CA1P) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A86-2 (CA1N) or I183-18 (CA1N) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the A86 millimeter wave radar sensor assembly connector.

  5. CHECK FOR DTCs (DTC U0235 OR U1104)

    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the Techstream on.

    4. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    5. Perform the following to make sure that the DTC detection conditions are met.

      Tech Tips

If the detection conditions are not met, the malfunction cannot be detected.

      1. Drive the vehicle at a speed for which cruise control operation is possible.

      2. Turn the cruise control on using the main switch.

      3. Push the -SET switch to activate the cruise control.
