DTC SUMMARY
MALFUNCTION DESCRIPTIONThese DTCs indicate that a large current flowed in the inverter for the generator. The cause of this malfunction may be one of the following:
Internal inverter malfunction:
Internal circuit malfunction in the inverter for the generator
Malfunction in the sensors for inverter control (current sensor, voltage sensor (VH, VL), etc.)
DESCRIPTION
For a description of the inverter Click here.
If an abnormal amount of current flows through the generator inverter, the MG ECU detects it and sends a signal to inform the power management control ECU of the malfunction.
| DTC No. | INF Code | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area |
|---|---|---|---|
| P0A7A | 325 | Generator inverter fail signal detected (overcurrent due to inverter assembly malfunction): Overcurrent occurs in the generator inverter.* (1 trip detection logic) |
Inverter with converter assembly |
| 810 | Abnormal generator inverter current value detected (inverter malfunction) (1 trip detection logic) |
*: The cause of the malfunction is most likely the inverter with converter assembly.
When a large current flows in the inverter and the current sensor and voltage sensors (VL, VH) are malfunctioning, this DTC is output.
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
P0A7A (INF 325):
If excessive current flows through the generator inverter due to an internal short, the generator inverter will transmit an inverter fail signal to the MG ECU. The MG ECU will send information about the malfunction to the power management control ECU. Upon receiving this information, the power management control ECU will illuminate the MIL and store a DTC.
P0A7A (INF 810):
If the MG ECU detects that the generator inverter current exceeds the threshold level for a period of time, the power management control ECU will illuminate the MIL and store a DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
Turn the power switch off and wait for 30 seconds or more.
Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
Turn the power switch on (READY).
With the shift lever in P, wait for 5 seconds. [A]
Tech Tips
Check that there are no abnormalities (abnormal sounds, coolant leaks, etc.).
Drive the vehicle approximately 10 minutes mainly using the engine. [B]
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes. [C]
Read the current DTCs.
Tech Tips
If a current DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
If current DTCs are not output, perform the following steps to check for permanent DTCs.
Check that the permanent DTCs are cleared.
If the permanent DTCs are not cleared, perform a universal trip, and then check for permanent DTCs again.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
CAUTION:
Before inspecting the high-voltage system or disconnecting the low voltage connector of the inverter with converter assembly, take safety precautions such as wearing insulated gloves and removing the service plug grip to prevent electrical shocks. After removing the service plug grip, put it in your pocket to prevent other technicians from accidentally reconnecting it while you are working on the high-voltage system.
After removing the service plug grip, wait for at least 10 minutes before touching any of the high-voltage connectors or terminals. After waiting for 10 minutes, check the voltage at the terminals in the inspection point in the inverter with converter assembly. The voltage should be 0 V before beginning work Click here.
Tech Tips
Waiting for at least 10 minutes is required to discharge the high-voltage capacitor inside the inverter with converter assembly.
Note
After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Click here.
Tech Tips
After the repair, clear the DTCs and perform the following procedure to check that DTCs are not output.
Turn the power switch on (READY) and wait for 5 seconds or more.
Drive the vehicle for approximately 10 minutes mainly using the engine.
PROCEDURE
CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL)
