CHECK DIAGNOSTIC FACTOR INDICATION
Note
Turn the engine switch off before performing the diagnostic function.
If the diagnostic connectors are not connected, the remote engine starter system will not enter diagnostic mode.
Tech Tips
The diagnostic mode will finish when either of the following conditions is met:
The diagnostic connectors are disconnected.
10 minutes elapsed from the diagnostic connectors were connected.
To prepare the vehicle for diagnostic mode, connect the diagnostic connectors. The steps are as follows.
Remove the front door scuff plate RH Click here.
Remove the cowl side trim sub-assembly RH Click here.
Find and connect the diagnostic connectors (labeled RDIG), located in the passenger cowl area.
Perform the following steps to enter diagnostic mode after connecting the diagnostic connectors.
Turn the engine switch from off to on (IG) and wait more than 3 seconds.
Depress the brake pedal.
The diagnostic mode is entered after the hazard warning lights flash.
Tech Tips
Confirm the factor that caused the engine to stop by checking the number of times the hazard warning lights flash.
The diagnostic mode indicates the causes of the engine stop or failure to start by flashing the hazard warning lights as listed below.
| Engine Stop Factor | Number of Flashes | Order of Priority |
|---|---|---|
| No abnormal stop in the past | 0 | 0 |
| Engine switch on (ACC or IG) | 1 | 1 |
| Any door is unlocked | 2 | 4 |
| Engine speed is too high or low | 3 | 7 |
| Any door or engine hood is opened | 5 | 2 |
| Shift lever is not in P | 6 | 5 |
| Brake pedal is depressed | 7 | 3 |
| Vehicle speed is abnormal | 8 | 6 |
| Immobiliser collation discrepancy | 9 | 9 |
Tech Tips
When two or more of these conditions are responsible for the engine stop or failure to start, they will be indicated in the order of priority.
The remote engine starter ECU will store the code for the last engine stop factor in its memory, even after exiting the diagnostic mode. The code can not be cleared from the remote engine starter ECU.
The engine stop factor that flashes the hazard warning lights 4 times does not occur for this type of vehicle.
