STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL

Note


  • Do not replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the battery connected and the ignition switch on (IG).

  • Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly without the steering wheel with the battery connected and the ignition switch on (IG).

  • Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.


  1. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  2. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

      Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.

    2. Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.

    3. Disconnect the connectors from the spiral cable sub-assembly and steering wheel assembly.

      Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

      SST
      09950-50013   ( 09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05070 )

      Note

      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.

  4. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the steering pad switch connector from the spiral cable sub-assembly.

    2. w/ Shift Paddle Switch Wire of Steering Pad Switch Assembly:

        Disengage the clamp.

    3. w/ Shift Paddle Switch:


      1. Disconnect the No. 1 switch wire connector.

      Remove the 2 screws.

    5. Disengage the 2 claws, 2 pins and 2 guides to remove the steering pad switch assembly.

  5. REMOVE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) (for 2AR-FE)

    1. Remove the 2 screws.

    2. Disengage the 4 pins and remove the 2 shift paddle switches (transmission shift switch assembly).

  6. REMOVE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) (for 2GR-FE)

    1. Remove the 2 screws.

    2. Disengage the 4 pins and remove the 2 shift paddle switches (transmission shift switch assembly).

  7. REMOVE NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE (for 2AR-FE)

      Disengage the 5 guides to remove the shift paddle switch (transmission shift switch assembly) with No. 1 switch wire from the steering wheel assembly.

      Remove the 2 clamps.

    3. Disconnect the 2 connectors to remove the 2 shift paddle switches (transmission shift switch assembly) from the No. 1 switch wire.

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE (for 2GR-FE)

      Disengage the 5 guides to remove the shift paddle switch with No. 1 switch wire from the steering wheel assembly.

      Remove the 2 clamps.

    3. Disconnect the 2 connectors to remove the 2 shift paddle switches (transmission shift switch assembly) from the No. 1 switch wire.

  9. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH

      Remove the 2 screws.

    2. A01I0JN

      Disconnect the connector and remove the cruise control main switch as shown in the illustration.

  10. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WIRE


    1. Remove the cruise control switch wire.

  11. REMOVE STEERING SHAKE DAMPER

      Remove the 2 screws and steering shake damper from the steering wheel sub-assembly.
