SHIFT LEVER ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT SHIFT LOCK OPERATION


    1. Move the shift lever to P.

    2. Turn the engine switch off.

    3. Check that the shift lever cannot be moved from P to any other position.

    4. Turn the engine switch on (IG), depress the brake pedal, and check that the shift lever can be moved from P to any other position.

      If the operation cannot be performed as specified, inspect the lower shift lever assembly.

  2. INSPECT SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON OPERATION


    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Using a screwdriver, remove the shift lock release button cover.

    3. When moving the shift lever with the shift lock release button pressed, check that the shift lever can be moved from P to any other position.

      If the operation cannot be performed as specified, inspect the lower shift lever assembly.
