| DTC Code | DTC Name |
|---|---|
| P2009 | Intake Manifold Runner Control Circuit Low (Bank 1) |
| P2010 | Intake Manifold Runner Control Circuit High (Bank 1) |
DESCRIPTION
The ECM activates the intake air control valve actuator (for tumble control valve), which opens and closes the Tumble Control Valve (TCV). The ECM activates the DC motor based on engine speed, coolant temperature, intake air temperature and other conditions.
| DTC No. | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area |
|---|---|---|
| P2009 | Both of the following conditions continue for 1 second (1 trip detection logic). (a) The output duty of the intake air control valve actuator is 100% or higher. (b) The current of the intake air control valve actuator is less than 0.35 A. |
|
| P2010 | Either of the following conditions continues for 6 times or more (1 trip detection logic). (a) The motor drive IC has overcurrent. (b) The motor drive IC failure. |
|
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
When the voltage of the intake air control valve actuator deviates from the standard range, the ECM determines that a malfunction has occurred and stores a DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the Techstream on.
Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Primary / Coolant Temp.
Check that the engine coolant temperature is 60°C (140°F) or higher.
Wait approximately 10 seconds.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
Read the pending DTCs.
Tech Tips
If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.
Input the DTC: P2009 or P2010.
Check the DTC judgment result.
| Techstream Display | Description |
|---|---|
| NORMAL |
|
| ABNORMAL |
|
| INCOMPLETE |

| N/A |
|
Tech Tips
If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
If the judgment result is INCOMPLETE or N/A and no pending DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs Click here.
Tech Tips
If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
Tech Tips
Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
