SIDE STEP(w/ Foot light) INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

  • When installing the side step assembly, heat the vehicle body and side step assembly using a heat light.

    Standard
    Item Temperature
    Vehicle Body 40 to 60°C (104 to 140°F)
    Side Step Assembly 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

Note

Do not heat the vehicle body and side step assembly excessively.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL SIDE STEP ASSEMBLY


    1. Clean the vehicle body surface.


      1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body surface.

      2. Remove the double-sided tape from the vehicle body.

      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

    2. If reusing the side step assembly:

      Clean the side step assembly.


      1. Using a heat light, heat the side step assembly.

      2. Remove the double-sided tape from the side step assembly.

      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

      4. Apply new double-sided tape to the side step assembly, as shown in the illustration.

    3. Install the side step assembly.


      1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body and side step assembly.

      2. Remove the peeling paper from the face of the side step assembly.

        Tech Tips

        After removing the peeling paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

      3. Attach the 10 clips to install the side step assembly.

      4. Install the 6 bolts.

        Torque:
        30 N*m  { 306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf }

      5. Install the screw.

      6. Connect the connector.
