  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    CAUTION:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Click here.

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (- ) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  3. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER

      Using a screwdriver, insert the screwdriver into the cutout of the lower No. 3 steering wheel cover and detach the claw and guide to remove the lower No. 3 steering wheel cover.

  4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER

      Using a screwdriver, insert the screwdriver into the cutout of the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover and detach the claw and guide to remove the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover.

  5. REMOVE STEERING PAD (for Torx Type)

      *a Screw Case

      Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, loosen the 2 "TORX" screws until the groove along the screw circumference catches on the screw case.

      Tilt the steering pad toward the seat and support it with one hand.

      Note


      • Do not drop the steering pad.

      • When disconnecting the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

    3. Disconnect the horn connector.

    4. Using a screwdriver, release the connector lock and disconnect the airbag connector.

      Note

      When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

      Tech Tips


      • Use the same procedure to disconnect the airbag connector on the other side.

      • Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  6. REMOVE STEERING PAD (for Pin Type)


    1. Using a T25H "TORX" driver, push in the torsion spring to detach the 3 pins and remove the steering pad.

      Note


      • Do not drop the steering pad.

      • When disconnecting the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

      Tech Tips

      Insert the T25H "TORX" screwdriver into the installation areas of the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover and lower No. 3 steering wheel cover.

      Tilt the steering pad toward the seat and support it with one hand.

    3. Disconnect the horn connector.

    4. Using a screwdriver, release the connector lock and disconnect the airbag connector.

      Note

      When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

      Tech Tips


      • Use the same procedure to disconnect the airbag connector on the other side.

      • Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
