THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM(w/o Entry and Start System) Engine Hood Courtesy Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The engine hood courtesy switch is installed together with the hood lock. This switch turns on when the engine hood is closed and turns off when the engine hood is opened.

  • If the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) is replaced, refer to the Service Bulletin.

  • w/ Door Control Battery:

    As the door control battery is installed between the vehicle battery and main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU), first perform the inspections in On-Vehicle Inspection to confirm that there are no malfunctions in the power source circuit for the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) before performing this troubleshooting procedure Click here.

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (HOOD COURTESY SW)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.

    5. According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List.

      ON: Engine hood closed

      OFF: Engine hood open

      The indicator on the GTS switches between ON and OFF in accordance with the engine hood courtesy switch (hood lock assembly) status.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY [ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH]- MAIN BODY ECU [MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU] AND BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the A74 engine hood courtesy switch (hood lock assembly) connector.

    2. Disconnect the E118 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A74-2 (+) - E118-11(HCTY) Always Below 1 Ω
      A74-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      A74-2 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E118-11 (HCTY) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  3. INSPECT ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH (HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY)


    1. Remove the hood lock assembly Click here.

    2. Inspect the hood lock assembly (engine hood courtesy switch) Click here.
