BACK DOOR LOCK INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY (w/o Power Back Door)

    (Back Door Lock assembly)

    - -

    1. Set the back door lock to the full-latch position.

    2. Apply battery voltage to the door motor connector and check the operation of the door lock motor.

      OK
      Measurement Condition Specified Condition

      Battery positive (+) → 2 (ACT+)

      Battery negative (-) → 1 (ACT-)

      Moves to open-latch position

      • If the result is not as specified, replace the back door lock assembly.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (ACT-) - 3 (+) Open-latch Below 1 Ω
      1 (ACT-) - 3 (+) Full-latch 10 kΩ or higher

      • If the result is not as specified, replace the back door lock assembly.

  2. INSPECT BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY (w/ Power Back Door)

      (Back Door Lock Assembly)

      Inspect the closer motor operation.


      1. Set the back door lock assembly to the full-latch position.

      2. Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the door lock motor.

        OK
        Measurement Condition Specified Condition

        Battery positive (+) → 1 (M+)

        Battery negative (-) → 2 (M-)

        Moves to open-latch position

        • If the result is not as specified, replace the back door lock assembly.

      3. Set the back door lock assembly to the half-latch position.

      4. Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the door lock motor.

        OK
        Measurement Condition Specified Condition

        Battery positive (+) → 2 (M-)

        Battery negative (-) → 1 (M+)

        Moves to over-latch position

        • If the result is not as specified, replace the back door lock assembly.

      5 (CLS) - 4 (E) Over-latch Below 1 Ω
      Full-latch 10 kΩ or higher
      Half-latch 10 kΩ or higher
      Open-latch Below 1 Ω

      • If the result is not as specified, replace the back door lock assembly.

        Closer Position Switch
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        6 (OPN) - 4 (E) Selector gear is in center position Below 1 Ω
        Selector gear is not in center position 10 kΩ or higher

      • If the result is not as specified, replace the back door lock assembly.

      Back Door Courtesy Switch
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 (CTY) - 4 (E)

      Half-latch

      Open-latch

      Below 1 Ω

      Over-latch

      Full-latch

      10 kΩ or higher

      • If the result is not as specified, replace the back door lock assembly.
