VARIABLE GEAR RATIO STEERING SYSTEM VGRS System Suspends right after Engine Start

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note

When replacing the steering actuator assembly, perform actuator angle neutral point calibration and initialization after replacement Click here.

  2. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS

    1. Confirm the conditions present when the VGRS temporarily stopped.

The system temporarily stopped during normal driving. A
The system temporarily stopped under harsh conditions such as when turning the steering wheel while the vehicle is stopped. B

      Tech Tips

When the steering torque is large, the actuator easily overheats. In this situation, the system is stopped to prevent the actuator from overheating.

  3. CHECK STEERING EFFORT

    1. Check the steering torque when the steering wheel is turned with the vehicle stopped (for 1VD-FTV: See page , for 1UR-FE: See page , for 3UR-FE: Click here.

      OK
      The steering torque is normal.

      Tech Tips

When the power steering system has failed, the system is stopped to protect the system when the load torque is large.

  4. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS

    1. Check if the system stops repeatedly when steering the vehicle.

      OK
The system does not stop repeatedly.

      Tech Tips

After the engine switch is turned on (IG) and the steering wheel is operated, an initial check of the lock is performed. When operating the steering wheel during the initial check, VGRS operation may be stopped, but operation is resumed again quickly.

  5. CHECK VGRS SYSTEM

    1. Operate the steering wheel and check that the system recovers.
