REAR AXLE SHAFT REASSEMBLY

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note

Do not allow foreign matter, etc. to contact the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL BRAKE DRUM OIL DEFLECTOR

      *1 Oil Drain Hole

      Install a new deflector gasket and the deflector to the rear axle shaft.

      Tech Tips

      Align the 2 oil drain holes.

    2. A01X1QX

      Temporarily install a washer and nut to 5 new hub bolts as shown in the illustration.

    3. Install the hub bolts by tightening each nut.

    4. Remove the washer and nut from each hub bolt.

  2. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Position the parking brake plate on a new rear axle hub and bearing.

      Note

      Make sure to securely fit the parking brake plate to the bearing.

      Using 2 socket wrenches and a press, press in the 4 housing bolts.

  3. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT LH


    1. A01X2L5E01
      *1 Tapered Surface
      *2 Chamfered Surface

      Install the washer and a new retainer to the axle hub as shown in the illustration.

      Note


      • Install the washer with its tapered surface facing downward.

      • Install the retainer with its chamfered surface facing downward.

    2. Using SST and a press, press in the rear axle shaft.

      Note

      Make sure to securely fit the bearing to the rear axle shaft.

  4. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT SNAP RING LH

      Using a snap ring expander, install a new snap ring.
