PROCEDURE
REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER
REMOVE OIL PAN PROTECTOR ASSEMBLY
DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the ATF.
Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY
Remove the 12 bolts, oil pan and gasket from the transmission.
Note
Some fluid will remain in the oil pan. Remove all the bolts, and carefully remove the oil pan assembly.
Remove the 4 transmission oil cleaner magnets from the automatic transmission oil pan subassembly.
Use the removed transmission oil cleaner magnets to collect any steel chips. Examine the chips and particles in the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly and on the transmission oil cleaner magnets to determine what type of wear might be found in the automatic transmission assembly.

REMOVE VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY
Remove the 4 bolts and valve body oil strainer assembly from the transmission valve body assembly.
Note
Be careful as some fluid will come out of the valve body oil strainer assembly.
Remove the O-ring from the valve body oil strainer assembly.
DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION WIRE
Remove the 2 bolts and 2 temperature sensor clamps.
Disconnect the 2 ATF temperature sensors.
Remove the 2 O-rings from the 2 ATF temperature sensors.
Disconnect the 9 connectors from the solenoid valves.
REMOVE TRANSMISSION WIRE
Disconnect the No. 1 transmission wire connector and Disconnect the No. 1 transmission wire connector.
Tech Tips
Disengage the claw, pull down the lever, and then disconnect the transmission wire connector.
Remove the 2 bolts and pull out the No. 1 transmission wire and No. 2 transmission wire.
Remove the 2 O-rings from the No. 1 transmission wire and No. 2 transmission wire.
