LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM Rain Sensor LIN Communication Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The LIN communication of the components related to the rain sensor occurs between the rain sensor and windshield wiper ECU.

Note


  • When using the GTS with the ignition switch off to troubleshoot:

    Connect the GTS to the vehicle, and turn a courtesy switch on and off at 1.5 second intervals until communication between the GTS and vehicle begins.

  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RAIN SENSOR - WIND SHIELD WIPER ECU)


    1. Disconnect the E147 windshield wiper ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the R11 rain sensor connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R11-1 (MPX) - E1147-14 (MPX1) Always Below 1 Ω
      R11-1 (MPX) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RAIN SENSOR BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)

      Disconnect the rain sensor connector.

    2. Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R11-2 (ES) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      R11-4 (SIG) - Body ground Ignition switch off → Ignition switch ON Below 1 V → 11 to 14 V

  3. REPLACE RAIN SENSOR


    1. Temporarily replace the rain sensor with a new one Click here.

    2. Check the rain sensor function is normal.

      OK
      Rain sensor function is normal.
