Tech Tips
The back door glass can be reused. If any clip of the back door glass is broken, use butyl tape to support the glass until the applied adhesive hardens when reinstalling the back door glass.
PROCEDURE
REMOVE REAR SPOILER SUB-ASSEMBLY
REMOVE BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH LH
REMOVE BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH RH
REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM BOARD ASSEMBLY
REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY (w/ Rear Wiper)
REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS SUB-ASSEMBLY
Disengage the 4 clamps.
Disconnect each connector.

Apply protective tape to the outer surface of the vehicle body to prevent scratches.
Note
When separating the back door glass sub-assembly from the vehicle, be careful not to damage the paint or interior and exterior ornaments.
| *1 | Piano Wire |
Pass a piano wire between the vehicle body and back door glass sub-assembly from the interior as shown in the illustration.
Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects that can serve as handles.
Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the back door glass sub-assembly.
Note
Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when removing the back door glass sub-assembly.

Place matchmarks on the back door glass sub-assembly and vehicle body on the locations indicated in the illustration.
Tech Tips
Matchmarks are not necessary if the back door glass is not going to be reused.
Using suction cups, disengage the 2 clips and remove the back door glass sub-assembly.
REMOVE NO. 1 BACK WINDOW GLASS SPACER
When reusing the back door glass sub-assembly:

Using a scraper, remove the No. 1 back window glass spacer.
Note
Be careful not to damage the back door glass sub-assembly.
Be sure to replace the No. 1 window glass spacer with a new one.
REMOVE NO. 2 BACK WINDOW GLASS SPACER
Tech Tips
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.
REMOVE BACK WINDOW LOWER MOULDING
When reusing the back door glass sub-assembly:

Using a scraper, remove the back window lower moulding.
Note
Be careful not to damage the back door glass sub-assembly.
Be sure to replace the back window lower moulding with a new one.
REMOVE BACK WINDOW OUTSIDE MOULDING LH
When reusing the back door glass sub-assembly:

Using a scraper, remove the back window outside moulding LH.
Note
Be careful not to damage the back door glass sub-assembly.
Be sure to replace the back window outside moulding LH with a new one.
REMOVE BACK WINDOW OUTSIDE MOULDING RH
Tech Tips
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.
REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS ADHESIVE DAM
When reusing the back door glass sub-assembly:

Using a scraper, remove the 4 back door glass adhesive dams.
Note
Be careful not to damage the back door glass sub-assembly.
Be sure to replace the back door glass adhesive dam with a new one.
CLEAN BACK DOOR GLASS
Clean the outer edge of the back door glass with a non-residue solvent.
Note
Do not touch the back door glass surface after cleaning it.
Be careful not to damage the glass.
Even if using a new back door glass, clean the back door glass with a non-residue solvent.
CLEAN VEHICLE BODY

Using a scraper, remove the moulding and adhesive from the back door glass sub-assembly.
Clean and shape the contact surfaces of the vehicle body.
Using a knife, cut away excess adhesive on the contact surfaces of the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.
Note
Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
Tech Tips
Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.
Clean the contact surfaces of the vehicle body with a piece of cloth saturated with cleaner.
Tech Tips
Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
